Big folk, shiny paper, store say yes. But we trick self?
Big caves, full of shiny things and loud talkers, say new furs and bone beads make caveperson look strong and important. They say, "You need big feather, shiny rock on ear!" Big picture-scrolls, where many pretty cavepeople show new fur patterns, also say "Yes, this good! You look like mighty hunter!" Shops with many animal skins hung up say "Buy now! You look best in this!"
But is this real good for all cavepeople? Or just big talk from shiny ones who want much trade-rock? Some cavepeople scratch head, "Why me need shiny rock to hunt? Me just need strong spear and warm fur." Maybe we just fool ourselves, pretending broken bone necklace make us better, when just warm fur is enough for cold night.
**Grog, the big game tracker:** "Me see new red paint on face. Look good for attracting mate. Me try find special berry for paint. Maybe then me get many cave-mate!"
**Thunka, old berry gatherer:** "All this new fur and paint? Ugh. Too much fuss. Me just want warm hide and full belly. Shiny rock no fill belly. Me think too much looking. Not enough doing."
**Chief Mog, Leader of River Tribe:** "Hmm. Tribe need strong hunters, not just pretty ones. But if pretty fur makes happy, then good. Just remember to bring back mammoth, not just look like mammoth!"
