Two young female-grunts sneak to big-fire in dark. Only one return to cave. Tribe feel bad.
Two small-huntresses, Falla and Zira, did creep-walk from sleep-cave in dark-time. They go to big-fire near river, where other young grunts gather for loud-talk and dancing. Sun-up come, but Falla only return to cave, eyes wide like scared owl. Zira, her sister-friend, gone. No-one see Zira after last spark flew from big-fire.
Tribe now scared. Old-ones say, 'Night-dark hold hungry spirits!' Hunters search far, but no Zira track found. This make big-worry for all small-grunts, fear of what hides in shadows after fire-glow fades. Mammoth-meat not taste good when heart heavy with fear for missing kin.
### Local Commentary
Korg (local berry picker): "I saw them, yes, little shadows moving fast like scared deer. The big-fire called to them, a dangerous song. My belly feels cold now, like winter wind."
Thog (mammoth hunter): "I was near the river, tracking a big-beast. Saw many grunts by the fire, but my eyes were on the forest edge. Didn't see anything bad, but ground shakes with evil when young go missing. We must search more."
Grak (wise woman of the tribe): "This is a lesson for all. Night-dark is for sleep, fire-light is for tribe-circle, not secret-wander. We must pray to Sky-Father, and keep our young close. Tribe needs all its strong hands."
